Welcome to learn, discuss, and experience from a Greenlandic shaman Angajoq about shamanic transformation, healing practices, and ways of life in todays world.

 We will have a special focus on the sacred shamanic drum, its ceremonial and healing service.

The event is hosted by a Finnish shamanic teacher Helena Karhu at the nature resort called Metsäkartano by the Tiilikkajärvi National Park, Finland.

The course includes a few theoretical lectures on the use of the drum and its history. Most importantly, we will have the opportunity to experience drumming firsthand in the natural landscapes and in shared ceremony.

During this long weekend, you will:

·       experience ceremony with Angajoq and Helena

·       learn and practice the way of the shaman drum

·       participate in workshop where we create shamanic amulet for the drum

·       we have ceremony and other ritual practices with the drum

·       experience shamanic journey work for personal and societal transformation

·       get to visit together a sacred nature site at Tiilikkajärvi National Park

This long weekend is suitable for everyone interested in shamanism, animism, sustainable lifeways, nature, and northern ancestral traditions.

Welcome to Metsäkartano Nature Resort in Finland!:

We will meet near Tiilikkajärvi National Park in Rautavaara. Metsäkartano Nature Resort is an incredible gem in the middle of quiet forests and lakes. Each accommodation room has its own bathroom. We have beautiful places for gathering both indoors and outdoors. The food made by Metsäkartano staff is excellent and made of local products with environmental focus.

About the course guides:

Angajoq Nattoralissuaq:

Angajoq is a Greenlandic shaman, born in Greenland, currently living in Denmark. He is a trainer psychotherapist. Angajoq has family members who were and are shamans, such as his late grandmother, and his great uncle Angaangaq. Angajoq has organized many years Earth Day gatherings in front of the Danish parliament house, for voicing the message of sustainable and harmonious relationship of people and all of earth. He has hold workshops on shamanism and gives private shamanic healing sessions in Denmark and abroad.

Helena Karhu:

I am a local North-Karelian shamanic teacher, culture producer, and researcher. The soul task of my life is within Karhun Talo (House of Bear), which aims to remember our deep connection with nature, as the source of awareness, wellbeing, and connectedness for everyone in community. I wish to understand, remember, and live folk cultures and wisdom traditions together with all of you. I am one of the founders of a culture association called Pielisen Tietäjäkeskus ry., which aims to promote, strengthen, and live the ancestral wisdom traditions of North Karelia.

My world journeys have taken me across the Northern and Arctic regions in quest for meaning of life. My passion is to bring forth the light-increasing, co-operative, and empowering aspects of the ancestral practice, where everyone can rest as they are, yet have freedom to become who they are. As a retreat guide, my ambition is to be of inspiring and positive guidance, where simplicity and naturalness of life are the key focus.

Course fee and signing up:

Early-bird price until 31.7.2026: The course fee is only 290 EUR incl. the course program, materials for the amulet.

From August: The course fee is 350 EUR incl. the course program, materials for the amulet.

Accommodation with full-board:

This is an in-person retreat. This will energetically keep us together during this time and allow your own process the time and solitude necessary for the work this weekend.  The accommodation with full-board is at Metsäkartano Nature Resort. Accommodation with full-board (from the dinner of the arrival night to the lunch on departure day) is only an additional 270 EUR /per person / 3 nights in shared rooms with full-board (starting dinner on arrival day and ending to lunch on Sunday). The rooms are in a wilderness hotel building, where each room has its own bathroom.

There are single rooms available with extra cost (+93 EUR / total for 3 nights /person).

Rent of bed sheets and towel is additional +15 EUR if you don’t bring your own.

The course is completely alcohol- and substance free.

How to get there?

Please take a train or a flight from Helsinki to either Joensuu or Kuopio railwaystation/airport. The closest train station is in Nurmes (approx. 30 min away). Please book your travel so that you are at least 3-4 hrs before the course starts at Kuopio or Joensuu, or 1 hour before in Nurmes.

Metsäkartano is only accessible by car, but we will help coordinate carpooling and make sure that everybody gets to the course location. Transfer minibus with additional cost can also be arranged.

It is possible to book a private consultation with Angajoq (100 eur / 35-45 min.). The booking is possible in the same registration form as to the retreat.
